MultiMedia Summer Academy
Innovative Educational Institution for and with current and future Media specialists
Die Multimedia Summer academy (MMSA) Echternach in the TRIFOLION – Cultural, Congressional and Tourism Center is a German-Luxembourg career development facility designed for Media Specialists. For one week each year academic scholarship recipients at universities and from companies are instructed on how to deal with Media. The main focus is online journalism as a type of Media for the future. Digital media designers and judiciary experts, moderators, editors and photographers share their knowledge: The MMSA participants are learning to understand and write text, have a go on how to deal with cameras and movie cameras as well as creating websites filled with their own ideas. The intellectual practice oriented communication on how to create high-level text, picture and sound productions is the focal point of the Multimedia Summer Academy.TRIFOLION is perfectly situated for the needs of the MMSA. Not only the technical requirements are available, the premises are perfect for extended teaching and learning.
Echternach as location offers the perfect nexus of theory and practice to this cross-border media qualification project. The academy participants are able to implement what they have learned in the reports of events, i.e. the Echternach Balloon Festival or about the rehearsals of the EUBO at TRIFOLION and then in turn reflect.
The kick-off of the Multimedia Summer Academy in 2008 was a conclusive success. The participants were from eight different countries and created the website of the MMSA as a prototype of the academy. This first run was unanimously celebrated as positive in the international press. This rocket-like take-off is positive propulsion for the head of the academy, Thomas Vatheuer: ”After the academy is before the academy. We definitely want to offer advanced courses next year.”
The joint venture is mainly sponsored and awards scholarships through applications and an assessment center to pupils, students and employees.
